Home TENS Unit:
relief you can carry
A home TENS unit is a palm-size battery stimulator with adhesive pads that puts the clinic’s pain-easing tingle in your pocket between visits. When a flare hits in the evening, at work or in the middle of the night, it turns the signal down, so moving stays possible and pain pills stay in the cabinet more often.
Your physician orders this equipment, and we fit it to you before you go home.
What is home TENS unit?
A pocket-size, battery-run stimulator with adhesive pads that carries the clinic’s pain-easing tingle wherever you go.
What it does for you
When a flare hits in the evening, at work or in the middle of the night, it turns the signal down. Moving stays possible, and pain pills stay in the cabinet more often.
Its role around regenerative treatment
In the weeks around a regenerative procedure, many patients are asked to skip anti-inflammatory pills. A home TENS unit is one drug-free way to manage soreness while the treated tissue does its work.
The right fit and feel
A firm, pleasant buzz beneath the pads that should never become painful. Your physician chooses the setting, how long each session lasts and how many times a day.
Daily use and upkeep
Pads go on washed, dry skin ringing the painful area, spaced one inch apart at minimum. Store them on the plastic liner between uses and replace them when the stick fades. Switch off and call if skin under a pad looks irritated or scorched, or if you feel faint or your pulse pounds.
Reasons to phone the clinic
- Not for anyone with a pacemaker or nerve stimulator implant, or who is pregnant, without physician clearance
- Never over the throat, the eyes, straight across the chest, or broken skin
- Never behind the wheel, operating equipment, asleep, or in a tub or shower
Fitting happens here: we size the item, you practice wearing and removing it while we watch, and printed steps go home with you. Phone (314) 295-3000 if it hurts, fits poorly or breaks.
How long you use it
Use it as your physician ordered.
What to remember
- Washed, dry skin; pads an inch apart or more.
- Off while driving, sleeping or bathing.
- Irritated skin under a pad: switch off and call.
Show us you have it: Before you go, stick the pads on, power the unit up and pick the setting while we watch. If a point is fuzzy, say so and we walk through it again with you.
