VNG Dizziness and Balance Test:
find the source of dizziness
VNG is an eye-tracking study of the inner ear and balance system. With camera goggles on, you track moving lights and change body positions, and the recordings help identify which part of the balance system is misfiring.

Tests are ordered only when the result will steer what happens next.
What is VNG?
An eye-tracking study of the inner ear and balance system. With camera goggles on, you track moving lights and change body positions.
What it does for you
Spinning, lightheadedness and unsteadiness often trace to the inner ear, or to the nerve wiring that steers the eyes. VNG helps identify which piece is misfiring.
Its role around regenerative treatment
Balance is part of safe loading. Before a plan asks you to stand on one leg, climb or carry more, your physician needs to know whether dizziness is a balance-system problem that needs its own care.
The experience on test day
A few steps may leave you briefly dizzy, which is expected. Your technician stays beside you throughout.
Getting ready
Come with bare eyes, no makeup. A day or two before, ask your physician whether any pill should be paused; sleep aids and dizziness medicine are common examples.
Flag these for us beforehand
- A neck injury that keeps you from moving your head freely
- Recent surgery on an eye
- Any seizure history
Time involved
Budget about 45 to 60 minutes. You get a start time when it is booked.
What to remember
- Expect a little dizziness; it is part of the test.
- Bare eyes, no makeup.
- Medicine pauses get cleared first.
Show us you have it: Before you go, name the medicines you plan to ask about pausing. If a point is fuzzy, say so and we walk through it again with you.
