RQ Resting Metabolic Rate Breathing Test:
learn how your body burns fuel
RQ is a resting breath test of the fuel mix your body burns while idle. You sit quietly with a mask or mouthpiece in place, breathing at your usual pace, and get back two numbers: calories burned at rest, and how much of that comes from sugar versus fat.

Tests are ordered only when the result will steer what happens next.
What is RQ?
A resting breath test. You sit quietly with a mask or mouthpiece in place, breathing at your usual pace.
What it does for you
You learn calories burned at rest and the sugar-to-fat split of your fuel. Those numbers shape the food coaching you receive at each visit.
Its role around regenerative treatment
A body that switches easily to burning fat tends to carry lower insulin and less inflammation, the conditions healing tissue needs. RQ shows where you start and whether the eating plan is moving you.
The experience on test day
Quiet, everyday breathing. No needles are involved.
Getting ready
For roughly four hours ahead: nothing to eat, no exercise, no coffee or other caffeine, no nicotine.
Flag these for us beforehand
- A mouthpiece is hard for you to breathe through
Time involved
Budget about 15 to 20 minutes. You get a start time when it is booked.
What to remember
- Four quiet hours first: no meals, workouts, coffee or nicotine.
- The result splits sugar-burning from fat-burning.
- Coaching is built from that result.
Show us you have it: Before you go, list what you will skip during the four hours beforehand. If a point is fuzzy, say so and we walk through it again with you.
